    1. Matters Arising

Money to fund breakfast for striking lecturers

Up to 50 pounds were requested to cover the cost of Balliol students buying breakfast from pantry and giving it to striking lecturers on picket lines.

There was a discussion on how this cost differs from the money already passed for the strike in the GM.

    No objections, motion passes.

Bop policy for allowing people outside of college to attend

Leah clarified that the general policy regarding bops is to not advertise them outside of Balliol but that friends of people at Balliol can be signed in.

It was discussed how it would be a good idea to clarify this in terms of how many extra people should be allowed in to avoid too many people coming to bops and so it can be put in the handover packs.

It was discussed whether it would be a good idea to get people to have to sign in before the bop starts - however it was concluded that this would be difficult as many people won’t have finalised their plans for the evening by then.

There was a discussion over whether or not there should be a cap on the extra number of people allowed in at bops - it was decided at this stage that it would be hard to decide on a figure for the cap so instead judgement could be used, allowing the person at the door to preserve the right to turn people away if the JCR gets too full.

Different ideas were suggested for how people could be signed in at the door - currently names and bodcard numbers are taken. It was thought that also taking down the college would be useful.

A discussion took place regarding whose responsibility it should be to sign people in at the door. It was suggested that there could be a paid door shift like there currently is on Tuesdays.

It was also discussed that the back wicket gate should be locked on bop nights.

Leah said she will do a post to the JCR outlining the outcome of the discussion before the upcoming bop.

    International Women’s Day bar social

Lauren and Francesca requested 40 pounds for an International Women’s Day bar social. 25 pounds would be for buying 125 songs on the juke box. 15 pounds for snacks.

    No objections, motion passes.

    Teddy Hall relays

32 pounds were requested to enter the Teddy hall relays. Funding was not able to be taken from college due to the short notice.

    Motion passes.

The Sports reps said they will do an email to the JCR reminding people to ask college in advance of sporting events or message them for advice on where to get funds to try and avoid JCR money being used in the future.

    2. AOB

    Data Protection Act

Leah reminded the Committee of the Data Protection Act that will soon be coming into place. Committee members were asked to get rid of any documents they hold on members of the JCR that are no longer need.

    Lovebox Storage

Xinyu informed the committee of a new contract with Lovebox storage, a storage company that will give the JCR free boxes in return for promotion of their company. Xinyu asked the committee to ensure that other storage companies are not advertised during this contract window.Â
