    a) Matters arising

    b) Amendments to the Governing Documents

    (i) Suspending Ice Cream Shifts - TL passes

    This JCR notes:

    (a)   That the W1 GM motion about ice cream shifts stated ice cream shifts are mandated 'until further notice', and so need to be repealed by another GM.

    (b)   This is the last GM of the term.

    (c)    That the Foodies have for the past few week opened up for ice cream shifts as mandated.

    (d)   That ice cream shifts are not expected outside of Trinity term.

    (e)   That the Foodies both have Prelims, all through week 7 to 9.

    (f)    That ice cream is still sold at lunch and dinner in Trinity Term.

    (g)    That the Foodies' still plan to open for ice cream shifts, just not as regularly as is currently the case.

    This JCR believes:

    (a)   That we don't need ice cream shifts in Michaelmas Term.

    (b)   That the Foodies should be allowed to take their exams, and not spend so much time on Pantry matters.

    This JCR resolves:

    (a)   To repeal the W1 GM motion mandating constant ice cream shifts.

    (b)   To encourage the Foodies to still open for ice cream shifts.

    (c)   To amend standing order 7.1 (b) to state 'manage the finances, utilisation, and opening times of Pantry, for which they are solely responsible'.

    b) Motions relating to financial matters

    (i) Theatre Tour - AW fails

    This JCR notes:

    (a)   The tour already receives grants from Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, the Cameron Mackintosh Drama Fund, the Sasakawa Fund and the office of Thelma Holt Ltd, but this still does not account for enough funds to cover the costs of the tour when combined with ticket revenue..

    (b)   The costs of travel for this tour to Japan and across the UK are very large (in excess of £25,000)

    (c)    The production company will cover the costs of flights to Japan which are more than £1000 for a return journey per member of the team.

    (d)   The production company will also arrange for a number of casting agents to visit the play in Oxford and London, which has resulted in successful signing of actors over the past 20 years of this tour.

    (e)   The tour also provides an excellent source of professional contacts for all crew members which are vital for progressing in the professional industry.

    (f)    The tour is made possible by acclaimed London theatre producer Thelma Holt, and is overseen by her office through the production period.

    (g)    There are currently very few viable ways for aspiring actors and theatre creative teams to pursue careers in the performing arts from Oxford University, other than the opportunities provided by Thelma Holt.

    This JCR believes:

    (a)   The annual Shakespeare Tour is a great opportunity for aspiring members of the drama community in Oxford to perform in Tokyo, Kyoto, Oxford, London, Guildford and a number of other venues throughout the summer vacation.

    (b)   Without continued support from Oxford colleges, the tour will become financially unviable within a very short time.

    This JCR resolves:

    (a)   To pay the OUDS / Thelma Holt production company £400 towards the expenses of the tour.

Suspending Ice Cream Shifts - TL

Thomas noted that the GM in 2nd week of Trinity term 2018 required the foodies to open up pantry for ice cream shifts every day until further notice. Given that the foodies have exams at the end of Trinity Term, and the fact that ice cream is not in demand in Michaelmas term, he suggested that pantry should no longer be required to put on ice cream shifts every day. It was agreed that this was a reasonable suggestion.
