In attendance – President, Treasurer, VP Org, VP Admin, Secretary, Lord Lindsay, Womens’, Disability, EMO, WHO, Suspended Students
JCR Mural
Elsa – College said yes. Main concern is that if its students making it, quality might not be amazing. Want quality to be really good as this will last for a while.
Bea – maybe have students designing and then professional makes it.
Elsa – understands that we want students doing it, but might be quite hard to design, professionals may be better suited. May send out a survey to see what peopke want, then look at different artists’ portfolios and ask whoever we pick for ideas. Run them through with college, choice made via GM. Maybe a plastic cover to protect.Â
Bea – maybe a mural of callum.
Nikita – Jesus have a mural, may be useful as a reference. More ‘fun’ than high quality.
Suspended Students Update
Isobel – heading to year abroad from next term, still plans on being involved, but thinks it will be really valuable to have a face in college.
Callum – happy for you to pick who you want for this role.
Isobel – going forwards, would like suspended students officer to have welfare training, especially as most students who suspend do so for mental health reasons. Does not have formalÂ
Callum – that’s something we can organise with Hannah, will bring it up in next Welfare meeting.Â
Bella – welfare training in practice is not great, has been cancelled twice already.
Elsa – agrees with idea, shouldn’t make it a requirement maybe otherwise many people won’t be able to go for role despite being passionate for it, but idea of training sounds good.
Isobel – agrees, just thinks it would still be very useful, being first port of call for welfare ideally.
Bella – agrees ideally, maybe can have this from next term, for now, just pass on to Hannah would probably be best given difficulties in obtaining welfare training.
Callum – can you select someone to act as a face for suspended students in college (Isobel)?
Bella – you can always pass them on to us too
Elsa – peer support is also really good
Isobel – if you wouldn’t mind sharing info about peer support and welfare for in person people, that would be great
Elsa – could add to welfare roundabout?
Towa – booked up already, but could mention it, don’t necessarily need presentation, but if you could nominate someone there to mention and explain it would be great. Could mention it twice – at the ‘meet the committee’ and Welfare roundabout.Â
Bella – rustication is usually a last resort, people more likely to come to Welfare first, so could work to do that all in one go.
Isobel – sounds good, could pass on any specific questions to me.
Housing Officers
Callum – have resigned, Helen has agreed with idea of having elections, will send out an email tomorrow, organise elections for Friday Week 9, will send round microsoft forms, in person hustings. Main responsibility would be to complete handover to next housing reps.
Bella – is it necessary we have a housing rep?
Callum – yes, would be very useful to have them for handover process to college. Dean has completed his investigation, decided that tomorrow, Keeley will send out an email, from Tuesday to Thursday next week, have opportunity to swap into rooms. Oli and Vasil excluded from process until end, when they can select their rooms. Keeley not comfortable circulating current rooms, so Callum will. Their rooms also made available.
Mukund – holding an election Friday Week 9 may not be a good idea, democratically speaking, engagement will not be great.
Callum – understands timing is not ideal, but need to get it done now, don’t want this mess continuing in front of new freshers.
Mukund – makes sense, when will hustings be?Â
Callum – Sunday Week 9.
Mukund – possible to do it earlier? Lots of freshers have exams on Monday – PPE, E&M, Maths, medics, really don’t want them to be spending time doing this when they should be revising or chilling.
Callum – sure, can do Saturday maybe.
Coffee Machine Update
Wasn’t taking minutes as I was speaking (Mukund). Key things – ask around at libraries on how maintenance for a coffee machine works, see how much is required on a daily basis to figure out how we could do it, maybe part of a committee role? To try and update for next week.
Issue with pads
Felicity – ordering from a social enterprise, really cheap but not great logistically. Issue with who will stock up during vac. Will probably double order for next term.
Elsa – Fiona happy to do so if you update her.
Nikita – do we still have receipts for period products?
Felicity – yes, not well-advertised enough, may put out facebook message.
