We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

Data Collection
We collect information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Our purpose in collecting this information is to better understand how our visitors use our website. We may also record the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of visitors to the website. We may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to tailor site content to user needs.
From time to time, we may use collected information to produce aggregate statistics related to website usage. Information used in this way is anonymised.
Additionally, certain visitors to our website choose to interact with Balliol JCR in ways that require us to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that we gather depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who book tickets to an event to provide a username and email address. In each case, we collect such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Balliol JCR. We do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below, and visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information (with the caveat that it may prevent them from making use of some website features).
Disclosure of Information
Available log records, and all data stored on our servers may be accessed by our system administrators. The system administrators may produce these records and data to representatives of Balliol College or Oxford University upon request or suspected violation of our terms of use, subject to the approval of the JCR Committee. It is Balliol JCR’s policy to cooperate with law enforcement officials in the detection, investigation, and prosecution of unlawful activity. If we receive a warrant or subpoena for user information, we may disclose requested records to law enforcement authorities or outside parties seeking information through the legal process.
Additionally, a limited subset of the data submitted to our website may be viewed by members of the JCR Committee where appropriate. For example, the Treasurer is able to view ticket orders submitted by visitors, including the name and email address associated with each order.
