Matters Arising
- We passed £15 for Aisha to host a tea encouraging people to register to vote.
Main Agenda
- Duncan has suggested to College that they should produce their own stash - an official Balliol line. The Development Office are very interested in the idea, and wanted more information regarding the sorts of things people might be interested in. Duncan ran through a long list of possible items (including ties, jumpers, socks, scarves, cufflinks, placemats, pens, brooches and much more), and we briefly discussed which might be worth investigating further.
- Alice and Xavier Greenwood had a meeting with College in which Kate Kettle asked about the possibility of doing a Balliol Access video, centred on the idea of contrast (similar to the St Anne’s access video produced recently). Alice asked if people had any thoughts or feedback, and the Committee was supportive of the idea.
- Richard listed the various pigeon holes in the JCR Office, and requested that officers check them. It should perhaps be made clearer in future (possibly in handover packs) which positions have pigeon holes there.
AOB
- Freshers’ page: A pinned post of guidelines has been produced. Aisha felt that it was important we be careful about how we move forward with this – in that the primary reason for the issues may be a sense that they can’t converse freely in the bar or elsewhere. Molly said that she’d investigated potential motivations that might be behind this, and said that people felt to some degree that the JCR Committee were being offended on behalf of others - we should be clearer that this is not the case.
The meeting ended.
