Matters Arising
- Aisha thanked those that had attended the previous bop cleanup. Unfortunately, a lot of people had been unable to make it for various reasons, and bop cleanup ended up taking over an hour. To try and mitigate this, Krista's change in the previous year of having fewer people on cleanup duty will be reverted. Additionally, more clean-up supplies will be purchased. Entz will also make some changes to decorations to prevent a repeat of the skittles / confetti mess that resulted at the previous board.
- Amy said that there would be a noticeboard-decorating event at welfare tea tonight. Matt Lynch said there was spare card left over from the bop, and that he would be happy to make this available.
- A pinned post has been drafted. There have been a number of incidents in recent days with regards to offensive posts being made, often resulting in complaints to the welfare officers. Amy said that nobody had ever talked about what the freshers' group is for and she'd like to have it formally decided by a GM.
Agenda
- Duncan encouraged people to attend the EGM on Sunday. Richard said he needed to motion by Saturday at the latest.
- Molly said that while she had been putting up the paper for Mirrorless Monday, she had encountered a number of bathrooms that had been left in a truly disgusting condition (including a bathtub filled with sick and a McDonalds bag that someone had tried to flush down the toilet). Duncan said that the Dean had emailed him with similar objections. It was decided that an email would be sent to the JCR reminding people that communal spaces should not be treated poorly.
- Tom said that room choosing would happen in 7th and 8th week this term, and requested additional information about the ongoing rent discussions. Duncan said that he would provide this shortly
- Richard Ware said the keys to the JCR Office have been missing for about two weeks, and asked for people to keep an eye out.
- Richard May said that everyone needed to get their termly reports in by the start of 8th week in time for the GM. Duncan said that people would be named and shamed if they failed to produce them.
AOB
- John requested that people in need of reimbursement go to Denise sooner rather than later - people have been stockpiling receipts and this has caused issues.
- John requested that we publicly castigate people seen leaving plates around in the JCR, and encourage them to put them away.
- Richard Ware said that the charity musical was coming up, and following the debate last term about lock-ins he wanted to know what the best approach would be. It was suggested that the bar stay open later, as with the elections. It was asked whether the bar had made a profit or a loss over the previous late-night opening; Richard responded that it was utterly impossible to tell from Alex Mullan's accounts.
- Matt Lynch said that there have been issues with people coming into Pantry during bops and causing trouble, and asked if anyone had suggestions to mitigate this. It was suggested that everyone was excluded from Pantry during the bop, and John suggested that the door between Pantry and the JCR be locked.
- Molly requested that people not staple things in the middle of the noticeboards in order to avoid damaging documents and posters.
- Aisha said the voter registration tea has been moved to next week.
- Duncan requested that people also vote in the RAG Charity elections. Charlotte asked whether it would be okay for the Women's Officers to publicise specific charities; it was felt that this was fine.
- Emily said the MCR haven't got back to us about the MCR meet-up.
- Matt Lynch said that he'll have time after Friday for the TV Room Working Group. An email will be sent out to recruit more people for the working group, to get more input.
The meeting ended.
