Introduction from the Development Office
Richard Norman greeted the Committee, and we introduced ourselves. The Development Office runs a large number of alumni events, including the Gaudy (a seven-year reunion) and graduations. They’re responsible for both programmes like the telethon, and organising more significant one-off donations. The Development Office is looking for ideas for their next fundraising push, and would like input and feedback from students on this point.
John asked whether reducing the number of undergraduates would be financially beneficial for the College; Richard said that while it would be, College does not have the power to do this since the number of undergraduates accepted by each College is decided between all the Colleges, the departments and the University.Â
Duncan said that the Development Office realised that vac res was an area in need of improvement, that College recognized that more vac res allowance was strongly correlated with better results in Finals, and that this would be something looked at going forward.
Matters Arising
- Richard May asked that the LGBTQ and Affiliations officers could get in touch regarding their termly reports, which they hadn’t done yet.
- Some of the noticeboards are still unfinished. Molly encouraged people to do so.
Agenda
- Following recent welfare craft events, Molly noticed that people aren’t returning supplies, and asked that people do so. Duncan suggested the Drs. WHO, as the heads of Welfare Subcommittee, tell people off for taking supplies. Emily Webb said that she had stuff left over from the Charity Musical, and she’d be happy to share it.
AOB
- Aisha mentioned that several of the bulbs in the JCR had blown, and asked D&M if they were the right people to sort this out. Flo said she'd contact the Clerk of Works about it.
- We passed up to £50 for Freddos for the voter registration events.
- James Kavanagh said that the MCR meet-up was organised for Wednesday of 8th. Molly asked whether there was proper disabled access to Holywell; Duncan replied that this was indeed the case. It was asked what the theme of the event would be; Duncan responded that since the MCR love wine and cheese, that would be the theme of the event.
- Aisha thanked Committee members who had turned up to GMs, and encouraged everyone else to do so if possible.
The meeting ended.
