    Minutes

    Minutes

    1. John told Committee that Arts Week will take place next week, and we passed £50 for him to use for Arts funding. There is an Arts Committee meeting tomorrow at 6pm - John invited the rest of the JCR committee to attend.

    2. Molly passed around stickers. She explained that there are 48 hand towel dispensers in college. She would like £6.50 to spend on stickers which remind people that hand towels are made from trees. This will hopefully encourage people to use fewer hand towels and will therefore save trees. She will also email Jo Roadknight to inform her of this plan and ask college’s permission. Matt asked the recommended number of hand towels per hand wash.

    3. Tom said that the housing portfolio within the JCR Committee may move away from Dr WHO. We might make a new Housing Officer, or incorporate responsibility for housing into the existing ACAF role. The housing working group are currently discussing this issue. Duncan asked people to come to the housing working group if they have views on this issue.

    4. Duncan told everybody to send around an email advertising their positions. Daisy also invited Committee members to produce posters advertising their positions. Nominations for Committee positions will open on Sunday.

    AOB

    • Emily and George are planning to organise the naked calendar we discussed last week. They want to sell it in 8th week. They will get in touch with the Dean to check this is ok with college.

    • Tom asked for £50 for food for his living out meeting on Monday. He also asked anyone who had experienced living out to come and speak at the meeting and answer questions from first year students. Daisy C, Alice and Emily all volunteered.

    • Molly asked when we can start reimbursing prescriptions. John said next term because we don’t have any money yet - it comes from battels.

    • Molly is organising a workshop or taster session for learning sign language. She asked whether Committee thought there would be an interest for this amongst JCR members, and whether we thought she should organise a two hour session, or a six week course of sessions. Amy suggested that she runs a short session first and then if it is very popular she can run further sessions.

    • Duncan said that he is running for OUSU. He asked if any Committee members would volunteer to write statements supporting his campaign.

    • Aisha asked for £48 to buy white poppies. Committee passed the money.

    • Duncan bought earplugs, and asked to be reimbursed £9.44. Committee passed this money. Annie said if they are disappearing quickly, will he need to buy more? Duncan said that he will keep an eye on the stock of earplugs and will repurchase if necessary.
